This Week @ 4B: Sept. 8
Here is a look at what fourth graders in Mr. Brown’s class will be studying this week.
SPELLING: Words with 3 letter blends. Visit www.mrbrownsroom for the weekly spelling list and ideas for different ways to study spelling words.
READING: An excerpt from the novel, Addie Across the Prairie.
MATH: Rounding and estimation; here are some rounding tips. Last week we spent time counting money and giving change. I’ve included a game here in “Links” called CA$H OUT that provides some practice with these skills. We will be revisiting them soon and money skills will be part of our next math test.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Natural resources in the United States.
WRITING: Our project on writing an essay that gives directions continues.
Also we will be spending about an hour on Tuesday and Thursday (and last Thursday) taking a standardized test called the MAP test. It measures each child’s abilities in math, reading, and language and provides lots of very helpful information to teachers. Kids will take the test again in the Spring to show their growth during the school year.
