This is a new feature that I plan on adding to The Scoop each week designed to help parents be more aware of what we are studying in class. I hope you like it. Please let me know what you think of this idea by commenting on the the article here.
Spelling: Words that include long and short “E” sounds using different vowel combinations.
Reading:
Story: Train To Somewhere is a fictional story based on real-life trains full of orphans looking for parents to adopt them over 100 years ago.
Reading Skill: Sequence and flashbacks
Math: Place Value
Social Studies: Introduction to geography and map skills. Other topics later on will include United States regions, Kansas, economics and U.S. government.
Science: Mrs. Folks and I will be departmentalizing this year. I will teach social studies to both classes, she will teach science to both classes. She’s beginning with an introduction to science and the scientific method.
Writing:Introduction to the writing process (pre-writing, first draft, proofreading & editing, publishing).
